Abacus klæder Solheim-damerne på
We are happy to announce that for the sixth time, Abacus Sportswear will return as The OfficialApparel Supplier to the European Solheim Cup Team for the next contest, to be staged at The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, on September 9-15, 2019.
Catriona Matthew, Europe’s captain and longstanding abacus® ambassador is one of Europe’s most successful golfers. She has made history throughout her career as the only Scot to win a Major, with victory in the 2009 Ricoh Women’s British Open and has played on nine Solheim Cup teams. As a part of the abacus team she is thrilled to continue our collaboration saying: “I love to wear Abacus clothing because it’s so comfortable, but also technical, so it’s ideal for wearing in all conditions. As the captain for next year’s Solheim Cup in Scotland, I can trust that the high- performance garments will let the team move unrestricted and make any rain, wind and otherconditions insignificant, so that we can all focus on our golf in the most intense situations.”
Abacus Sportswear is a pioneer of high-performance stretch waterproof fabrics since the late 90s, producing smart, technical clothing which combines Swedish quality and functional design to make sure you can put all your focus where it belongs, on your game. You can count on the fact thatevery piece is designed to work and move in total sync with the active golfer, on and off the course.
As one of Sweden ́s strongest golf apparel brands, Abacus is proud to have contributed to Europe’s past Solheim Cup glories and wants to share in another hopefully European success story at Gleneagles. Sven-Olof Karlsson, CEO and founder says: “It’s important to us to show a real contribution to the performance of the European Solheim Cup team and that our apparel exceeds the players’ expectations in terms of function, design and quality. We know from our previous positive Solheim Cup experiences that functional comfort is critical. This is why we concentrate onthe details, to ensure that the players can play their best in all weather conditions.”
Chris Mattsson, head of design, added: “As we have done this prestigious project five times before, we know it will be an exciting and challenging task as each event differs, both depending on thecaptain, who works closely with our design team, as well as the geographical conditions. So far,
we will not do any style reveals, but of course, while designing for the Scottish climate we need to be prepared for both temperature changes, wind and certainly some rain. And while designing forEurope, we will definitely stand our ground!”
